How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Moab ordinance cases can pull in a city police agency and a court. Grand County posts no separate Moab municipal warrant channel. Read the citation instead. If it names Grand County Justice Court, that court owns the case record, the payment route, and any warrant recall. Under city code, Moab City Police may execute and serve court process. That duty does not make them the issuing court. Their web page is not a live warrant search.
Municipal Courts Across Grand County
Grand County has two incorporated towns: Moab and Castle Valley. Neither runs its own public warrant database. Neither lists a municipal-court contact. Read the court line printed on the citation rather than assuming a city court exists.
| Place | Municipal court record | Likely citation route | Verified phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moab | No separate public warrant page verified | Grand County Justice Court when named on ticket | 435-259-1334 |
| Castle Valley | No town court or local warrant portal verified | Court named on citation; Justice or District Court as applicable | Justice Court 435-259-1334 |
Grand County offers no separate city-court warrant search for either town. Any city warrant question lands with the Justice Court.
Grand County Municipal Warrant Checks
The Utah Statewide Warrants Search is the right first stop. It covers qualifying records only. For a traffic, infraction, or Class B/C matter, call Grand County Justice Court at 435-259-1334. Felony and Class A matters go to the Seventh District Court clerk at 435-259-1355. The Grand County Sheriff's 435-259-8115 line handles service and custody questions. Moab police questions are different. Call the department at 435-259-8938, or dispatch at 435-259-8115, for service or a police-held report. No warrant-specific number is posted. A report request is not the same as confirming an active warrant. For City Hall, police, and GRAMA contacts, use Moab's city-specific warrant routing.
Moab Police Warrant Service in Grand County
Moab city code gives its police the power and duty to execute and serve warrants and other court process. The department page names Chief Alexander (Lex) Bell. His direct line is 435-259-8938. Assistance, crime reports, animal-control matters, and dispatch route through the county's 435-259-8115 number. None of these is a city warrant desk. Grand County Sheriff deputies hold county-wide jurisdiction and focus much of their work outside city limits. Which agency serves a particular order depends on the court, the case, and jurisdiction.

Municipal Warrants: What They Show
A city-related result may list the court, the case or citation number, the warrant type, and the alleged ordinance or traffic basis. Release conditions and status may appear as well. Grand County publishes no sample Moab municipal warrant and no city numbering pattern. A code section can explain an ordinance, but it does not prove a court issued a warrant in a case.
| Case reference | Use the citation or court case number; local format was not found |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | The court printed on the citation or state result |
| Police contact | Moab Police for service or police-held record context |
| Status | Confirm active, served, recalled, or changed with the court |
| Payment | Use the named court’s verified payment channel |
A name-only match or code lookup is not enough to establish the case status.
Moab Code Is Not a Warrant Search
The Moab Municipal Code site is for ordinances. It is not a warrant database. It has no docket search. It offers no payment route and no recall form. The City Recorder's office maintains the official version, and the online text can lag a Grand County ordinance update. For a court order, use the state warrant search and call the issuing court. For a police-held report, Moab's records page links a report and record request form; for a city record, its Open Government page offers online, mail, and in-person routes under GRAMA.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Call the court named on the citation. Ask whether it wants payment, a new date, a personal appearance, or a motion. Moab posts no warrant-clearance form of its own. If the ticket names Grand County Justice Court, the court page links the official payment vendor. Payment may satisfy only the citation. Ask the clerk whether it also recalls the warrant.
- Read the citation’s court and case number.
- Call that clerk before paying or traveling.
- Ask what action changes the warrant and what proof to keep.
- Use only the court’s linked payment route if payment is approved.
- Recheck the state search after the court reports its update.
Moab City Treasurer says it does not accept traffic violations or court fines. City Hall is not a verified court-fine counter.
Moab City Hall and Police Warrant Questions
Moab City Hall sits at 217 E. Center Street. Doors open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. The main line is 435-259-5121. City Recorder Sommar Johnson, at 435-259-2683, handles city-record routing, not court business. Moab Police lists 435-259-8938 for the chief and 435-259-8115 for dispatch and assistance. Grand County Justice Court sits at 125 E. Center Street. The two addresses are close. The wrong counter is an easy mistake. Match each call to the record type and the court named. The county Clerk/Auditor and the courts share one courthouse address. Their records stay separate. The Grand County Clerk/Auditor page makes that distinction explicit and explains its role and contact route.

Use the Justice Court or Seventh District Court clerk for a case record.
Moab City Warrant Records Under GRAMA
Moab handles its city records through GRAMA requests, online, by mail, or in person at 217 E. Center Street. Its Open Government page allows a 10-business-day processing period. Fees may apply. Moab Police also links a report and record request form. Ask for your own status or a specific police case record, and expect a classification review before anything is released. Castle Valley lists no town administrative contact or local request procedure, so a caller may need to try the town office directly. For Sheriff-held records, Grand County uses a separate GRAMA form that requires a state ID and a reasonably specific description. Grand County can limit or redact a response. A records request, though, does not stop a court date or recall an order.
A records request asks an office to review records. The issuing court still controls the warrant and its status.
Confirming Grand County City Warrant Clearance
Once the court acts, keep the order, docket entry, or receipt. Ask the clerk when the update reaches the state file. The statewide system can include qualifying city, county, and state warrants, but it posts no public refresh time. If the entry remains, give the clerk the case number and ask whether the court file reflects the change. For a city-related warrant with no separate local portal in Grand County, start with the court named on the citation, then the statewide search, then the right police or Sheriff contact. The full county route is on the Grand County warrant records home page.
